India conducted three strikes in past five years: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, Mar 9 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday claimed that apart from the surgical strike after the Uri terror attack and the air strikes in Pakistan's Balakot, a 'third strike' was also conducted during the past five years but did not reveal details about it.

"In the past five years, three times we have crossed the border and conducted successful strikes," Singh was quoted as saying by the media while addressing a rally in Mangaluru.

"I will provide information on two, but not the third," he added.

Uri and Balakot:

The surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army on Sept 29, 2016.

The events goes back to Sept 18, 2016, when 19 soldiers were killed in an early morning attack by Pakistani terrorists.

The attack was carried out at the 12 Infantry Brigade headquarters in Uri.

On Sept 29, Indian Army's Special Forces conducted “surgical strikes” on terror launch pads across Line of Control (LoC), winning appreciations from countrymen.

The incident occurred during the current tenure of Modi as the PM.

Recently, another surgical strike was conducted when the Indian Air Force targeted a terror camp across the Line of Control.

The incident occurred just days after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama area left 40 Indian paramilitary force personnel killed.
