IAF fighter jets strike and destroy terrorist camp across LoC: Reports

| @indiablooms | Feb 26, 2019, at 09:34 am

New Delhi, Feb 26 (IBNS): Nearly two weeks after a suicide terror attack by Pakistan-sheltered Jaish-e-Mohammad in Kashmir's Pulwama left 40 CRPFpersonnel dead, Indian Air Force on Tuesday night hit back and struck a terrorist camp across the Line of Cross in Balakot, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), media reports said.

"Air Force carried out aerial strike early morning today at terror camps across the LoC and Completely destroyed it," tweeted Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Pakistan's defence spokesperson, however, claimed in a tweet: "Indian aircrafts’ intrusion across LOC in Muzafarabad Sector within AJ&K was 3-4 miles.Under forced hasty withdrawal aircrafts released payload which had free fall in open area. No infrastructure got hit, no casualties. Technical details and other important information to follow.

Major General AK Siwach told NDTV: "There is absolutely no question that India is now on the highest alert. The strikes have been very successful, and now we must stay guarded.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security which was being attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval also.

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Home Minister Rajnath Singh -- all members of CCS were present at the meeting.

Reacting to the development, former Jammu and Kashmri CM Omar Abdullah tweeted: "Wow, if this is true this was not a small strike by any stretch of imagination but will wait for official word, should any be forthcoming."

Kashmir witnessed a black day on Feb 14 when a terror attack killed 40 Indian CRPF jawans and left the nation shocked.

India blamed Pakistan for the incident.

In Septermber 2016, amid mass anger in India over the Uri attack in Kashmir, India  carried out surgical strikes crossing the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), targeting terrorist launchpads working from within the neighbouring country.

Pakistan denied that there were surgical attacks calling India's claims as "fabrication of truth" but Pak PM Nawaz Sharif had warned India against any aggression.
