I am not Savarkar, I won't apologise: Rahul Gandhi hits out at BJP over 'Rape in India' row

New Delhi/IBNS: Hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the row stirred by his "Rape in India" jibe, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while speaking at the "Bharat Bachao Rally" at Ramlila Maidan here on Saturday, said he will not apologise.

In a full-fledged attack on the current regime, Rahul said, "I am Rahul Gandhi and not Rahul Savarkar. I will not apologise. Narendra Modi and his assistant Amit Shah will apologise because of the way they destroyed economy. Earlier people used to refer to India’s economy. Now people are crying over the price rise of onions."

The BJP women MPs- later joined by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh- in the Lok Sabha on Friday protested against Rahul's statement where he had said, "Narendra Modi used to say Make in India. But it is Rape in India all over. Everyday in newspapers, some news or the other about rape comes out."

Training his guns at Modi at a Jharkhand rally, Rahul had said, "Narendra Modi remains silent when his own MLAs rape women. He said Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (save girls and educate them) but he didn't say from whom to save."
