Hyderabad/UNI: A major fire erupted in a plastic waste godown located in Tatanagar colony, within the Mailardevpally division, on Monday night, police sources said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the fire broke out at around 2300 hours. Upon receiving the information, fire tenders promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames after more than an hour of effort.

Residents of the neighbouring Brundavan colony experienced thick smoke and suffered its effects.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the cause of the fire may have been a short circuit.

A case has been registered, and the police are currently conducting an investigation.
