Hyderabad: Cricket betting racket busted, 2 held

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) The city police has busted an organised cricket betting racket by arresting two cricket bookies at two places in the city on Sunday evening.

On credible information, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone Team, Hyderabad conducted simultaneous raids at Vittalwadi and near YMCA (both comes under Narayanaguda limits) in the city and apprehended two Cricket betting bookies --Sunny Kumar Jaiswal and Shreemanthula Sai Krishna while they were accepting cricket betting amount from punters directly and indirectly, over cell phones for ongoing VIVO IPL T20 Final day Cricket match- Mumbai Indian Vs Chennai Super Kings, being played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here today.

The accused are following betting app “Cricket Mazza App” and “Cricket guru App” and used to pay betting amount to the winning punters clandestinely and gain illegally easy money,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Task Force) P Radhakishan Rao said in a statement.

Besides cash of about Rs 60,000, also seized 5 cell phones and 3 TVs from the accused during the raids conducted at two different places.

The 30-year-old accused Sai Krishna, residing at Kavadiguda in the city, has a habit of betting money on the ongoing Cricket matches.

For organising the cricket betting he took a rented house and started betting under main bookie Deepak and using online app Cricket guru and accepting betting amounts directly, indirectly and over cell phones, whatsapp messages from 10 to 12 punters and sharing betting profits.

While another 33-year-old accused Jaiswal, residing at Vittalwadi in the city, is also in habit of betting on going cricket matches and organising the cricket betting by using online app Cricket Mazza app and accepting betting amounts directly, indirectly and over cell phones, whatsapp messages from 10 punters and gain illegal easy profits.

The apprehended accused persons along with seized property are handed over to Narayanaguda Station House Officer for further investigation.
