Hundreds of BJP supporters arrested during bike rallies across Bengal to mark Vijay Sankalp Diwas

Kolkata, Mar 3 (UNI) Defying no rally order across West Bengal, hundreds of BJP activists have been detained after reports of scuffles with the policemen in which many have been wounded over Vijay Sankalp Diwas processions on bikes across the state, official reports coming from several districts reached here said today.

Police resorted to lathi charging after being attacked by the BJP activists, who also alleged that the policemen used batons unprovoked on them for participating in the Vijay Sankalp Diwas rallies on two-wheeler across all the 294 assembly constituencies.

However, the government has denied the permission for any rally right now at a time when the state is having class XII final exams.

A report from Asansol said Union minister Babul Supriyo while leading a bike procession was prevented by the police at Baraboni Amodia more where police resorted to lathi charge after being attacked by brickbats. TMC office at Madanpur in the area was also ransacked in the violence.

Police also detained some BJP activists after a senior police officer of Asansol police station was injured in stone pelting.

At Goaltore in West Medinipur a pitch battle happened between the policemen and BJP supports in which some 25 people have been injured. Some policemen were also injured in the tussle.

DSP (Operation) Uttam Mitra was also injured He was taken to Goaltore hospital.

BJP alleged some their some 40 supporters have been injured in the police lathi charge.

In Howrah, Police stopped the scooty of BJP's women wing leader when she was a bike rally amid chanting of " Bharati Mata Ki Jay " and " jay Shreeram".

Reports of violence also reported from several parts of the city where the BJP supporters took part in the bike rallies.

In many areas the BJP supporters also gheraoed police stations.
