New Delhi/IBNS: Despite the ongoing blame-game, far-right group Hindu Raksha Dal has claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack on Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students and teachers by a group of masked men.

In a video, Hindu Raksha Dal leader Bhupendra Tomar alias Pinky Chaudhary said, "The Hindu Raksha Dal won't tolerate anti-national activities. Whoever will resort to anti-national activities will be treated like this way only. We take the full responsibility for the attack. For a long time, JNU is a hub of Communists. We won't tolerate such a hub.

We are always ready to protect our own religion. We won't tolerate these activities. Hindu Raksha Dal takes full responsibility for the attack and we assure we will take action against all universities where such anti-national activities will take place. All the attackers were our men. Whoever will speak against our religion will face the same thing in future."

A huge number of masked men carrying rods, sledgehammers on Sunday evening barged into the campus, girls' hostel of the university, vandalised the institution, attacked students including the JNU Students' Union leader Aishe Ghosh and a professor.

While the Left- which the rules the JNU Students' Union- blamed the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for the attack, the latter alleged the violence was carried out by the Leftists only.

ABVP is the students' wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) which is the parent organisation of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The country witnessed widespread protests against the JNU violence since Sunday late night.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday night itself ordered an inquiry into the incident. However, no arrest has yet been made.
