Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur flags off Uddan-2 from Shimla Airport

Shimla, Feb 28 (UNI) To increase the air connectivity and facilitate tourists, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Bharbhu (online from New Delhi) flagged off the Uddan-2 helicopter subsidized service from Shimla Airport at Jubberhati on Thursday.

Addressing online from Delhi, Prabhu said that Himachal Pradesh is on the priority of Union Government as it was trying to choke out Agro air policy to transport the proceeds of farmers to abroad.

"Since Himachal is known for apple cultivation in the country, Union Government would try to involve apple growers in this policy so that they could transport their apple proceed to the markets and export it abroad." he said.

Addressing the public meetings at Shimla airport, Jai Ram Thakur said that Uddan-1 project was dedicated to the Nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from this airport on March 27, 2017 and Prabhu dedicated second leg of this project to facilitate the people as common man could aspire to visit by air services by paying nominal air fare with launching of Uddan-2 on Thursday.

"I thank the Union government to choose Himachal Pradesh for second Uddan scheme as it was being unveiled from Union aviation minister online from New Delhi today," the CM said.

Earlier to this, additional chief secretary tourism, Mr Ram Subhag Singh informed that 15 seater Pawan Hans Helicopter would ferry people from Chandigarh to Shimla at subsidized airfare of just Rs 2,880 per person where as it would run thrice in a week till 15 days and after that it would be run six days in the week.

The additional expenditure or extra cost of flight tune to Rs 7,000 per person for two hours.

He said that separate commercial helicopter of Pawan Hans would be made available for this service would facilitate the local people besides the tourists.

He said that after successful operation, another Shimla-Kullu and Shimla Dharamshala would also be added to this service which would also run by the Union Civil aviation department.

Chief Executive Officer of Pawan Hans, Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Member of Parliament Mr Verinder Kashyap, Mayor of Shimla Municipal Council Ms Kusum Sadret and deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma and other distinguished people were present on the occasion.
