Guwahati, June 1 (IBNS) : The Assam police have sounded a high alert across in the state following intelligence warning against of probable attacks by the ISI patronised terrorists.

Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay said  police in all districts have been asked to take adequate measures.

Intelligence Bureau has alerted the police that an ISI agent has already entered into Assam from Nepal side.

The IB report, sent to the home department and police also said that  several ISI agents are still working in the state.

A recent report submitted by the IB to the Union Home ministry revealed that  more than 100 terrorists of the ISI-backed  Hijbul Mujahideen group have  taken shelter in the neighbouring country and they are waiting to sneak into India by  using the porous Indo-Nepal borde

"The terrorists are trying to sneak into India, and specially they are focusing the North Eastern region," a top IB source said.

Assam ADGP (Special Branch) Pallab Bhattacharya said police have taken  the IB input very seriously.

"All districts police  have been asked to take appropriate measures and  launch massive operation in all suspicious locations,"  Bhattacharya said.

Assam has turned into a  boiling point for jehadi activities.

Security forces have arrested over 50 jehadis in Assam in past two years.

They have also recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition and busted jehadi camp in the state during the period.
