Hemant Soren to take oath as Jharkhand's CM today

Ranchi/IBNS: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) president Hemant Soren will take oath as the 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand at a grand event in the state's capital on Sunday.

The oath-taking ceremony, scheduled for Sunday afternoon, will take place a week after JMM-Congress-RJD alliance won a clear majority in the state elections.

This is the second time Soren would take oath as the CM of the state.

Governor Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office and the event has been termed as "Sankalp Diwas" (day of resolution) "to usher the state into a new era."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav are scheduled to attend the event, said reports.

Among the chief ministers of other states, the attendees include West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

On Monday, the JMM-Congress-Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alliance won 47 seats in the 81-seat assembly, which is well ahead of the majority mark.
