Mumbai, Sept 19 (IBNS): Heavy rains accompanied with thunderstorms and lightening lashed Mumbai and its suburbs on Tuesday, media reports.

According to reports, rains began around 2 PM.

The rains disrupted the road traffic as well as the railway services. Train services witnessed delay.

The Harbour Line of the Mumbai locals was disrupted after a tree fell between Andheri and Vile Parle stations.

According to Skymet Weather, the rains are expected to continue for at least another 2-3 hours before slowing down.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been put on high alert. Besides, NDRF, Fire Brigade, and the Navy have been kept on standby for the next two days.

On Aug 29, a flood-like situation had hit Mumbai, creating havoc in the city.
