Hardik Patel wishes Rahul Gandhi for becoming Congress President

New Delhi, Dec 16 (IBNS): Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel has wished Rahul Gandhi on becoming the Congress President, expressing his hope that the latter would form a stable Opposition.

Hardik posted a tweet in Hindi which loosely translates to: "Heartiest congratulations to Rahul Gandhi for becoming Congress National President. Hope he will form a stable Opposition and raise people's issues."

Bringing a generational change in the Congress, Rahul Gandhi on Saturday formally assumed office of the party's President replacing his mother Sonia Gandhi after 19 years.

Sonia, the longest serving Congress President, had assumed the post in 1998.

Rahul was elected  President of the party  unopposed.

Though Rahul has lost a number of state elections being the VP of the party, he is looking forward to the results of the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections.

The Congress President-elect campaigned hard for the Congress party to end the 22 years of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule in Gujarat.

Hardik's PAAS and Congress fought in an alliance in Gujarat to uproot BJP from power.

The Gujarat election as well as the 2019 General Election are considered to be the acid tests for Rahul as the Congress President since he was repeatedly criticised for his failure as a leader in the past.
