Had a short but immensely fruitful Sri Lanka visit: Narendra Modi

| @indiablooms | Jun 09, 2019, at 04:12 pm

Colombo, June 9 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday visited Sri Lanka and said he had a 'fruitful' visit to the Island Nation.

Sri Lanka was Modi's second foreign nation where he visited after registering a thumping victory in the Lok Sabha polls last month.

He visited Sri Lanka after ending his Maldives tour.

Sri Lanka became the first world leader to visit the Island nation since the Easter Sunday attacks.

Modi said India will always be there with you and support Sri Lanka's progress.

Modi tweeted: "I had a short but immensely fruitful Sri Lanka visit. Sri Lanka has a special place in our hearts. I assure my sisters and brothers of Sri Lanka that India will always be there with you and support your nation’s progress. Thank you for the memorable welcome and hospitality."

Modi guided his Bharatiya Janata Party to register a Lok Sabha polls victory this year.

He took oath as the PM of India for the second consecutive term.
