Gun battle between militants and security forces continues in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 26 (IBNS) A fierce gun battle has started between security forces and militants near the Line of Control in North Kashmir' URI town, police said on Wednesday.

Sources told IBNS that following a  tip-off security forces launched a search operation for few militants holed up in a house in the  Qazimar area of URI town.

Deputy Inspector General Police North Kashmir, Gareeb Dass said," the gun battle has started  and  two or three militants are believed to be holed up in the house”.

He refuted reports that the militants are infiltrators.

There has been no information of  casualties in the gun battle so far.
