Gujarat elections: Did Kejriwal campaign for Congress from Delhi?
New Delhi, Nov 27 (IBNS): With Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal going all out against the BJP and egging voters against the saffron party, what is he alluding to? A secret alliance with Congress?
Well, as the political temperature soars in Gujarat, many felt Kejriwal is perhaps campaigning for Congress as well.
On Sunday, addressing a crowd at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi, on the occasion of the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) fifth foundation day, the party's national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directly urged the Gujarat voters to vote literally anyone but BJP.
"If the AAP is winning, then vote for the AAP candidate. If somewhere else another party is winning, vote for them. Defeating BJP is our goal,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.
Cursing the saffron brigade a bit more, he said, "Even judges are not safe in their rule. A few days ago we learned that Judge Loya who was hearing the Amit Shah case was found dead under mysterious circumstances... The whole country is fed up. GST and demonetisation broke their backs... Everyone is looking towards Gujarat and praying that the BJP loses.”
Gujarat, a BJP bastion for more than a decade now, will be the centre of attraction as the state goes into polls next month.
Just a month ago, Hindustan Times published an elaborate article about Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Twitter activities.
In it, the daily wrote that while Kejriwal, a vociferous critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through his verified handle @ArvindKejriwal mentioned “Modi” in 255 of his 1,303 posts between May 2016 and February 2017 in either English or Hindi, his attacks mellowed down since April 2017.
The drop was evident following BJP’s resounding victory in Uttar Pradesh and the AAP’s defeat in Punjab and Goa earlier this year.
The daily quoted Sanjay Kumar, director of the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, as stating, "If you keep attacking a person who is already popular, people would think you have some kind of an agenda."
Kejriwal seems to have learned his lesson, rather bitterly.
While his "Prime Ministerial" lesson seems to have been sorted out, the same cannot be said about his approach towards the BJP.
As for Kejriwal and his wishes, only time will tell if he's made to eat another humble pie.
