Govt suspends Geelani's passport for 4 weeks

Srinagar, Sept 22 (IBNS): Authorities on Tuesday suspended the passport of Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Geelani for four weeks ahead of US his visit, officials said.
Geelani has been  invited by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to attend its sessions being held in New York at the end of this month. 
 
These include the meetings of OIC contact group on Kashmir Contact Group beginning September 27. Syed Ali Geelani had accepted the invitation saying that he would be attending the OIC sessions.
 
The 85-year-old pro-Pakistan leader had been issued a short-term passport for nine months in July this year to facilitate his visit to Jeddah to meet his ailing daughter Fareeda.
