Govt bus mows down scooter rider in Kolkata

Kolkata, Oct 31 (IBNS): A 45-year-old scooter rider was killed on Monday after being run over by a speeding state-run bus in Kolkata, reports said.

According to reports, a Behala to Kankurgachi bound bus (S-3B), owned by Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC), violated a traffic signal and mowed down a motorcyclist at Hastings More area at around 9:30 am.

After being rescued, the biker- Shubhranshu Sarkar- was rushed to SSKM hospital nearby, where he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, locals vandalized the killer bus and beaten up its driver.

A heavy police force rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

After being rescued from angry mob, the bus driver has been admitted to a nearby hospital.

Police, however, seized the state bus, officials said.
