New Delhi, Oct 17 (IBNS): With Delhi witnessing fresh rape incidents, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give the control of the Delhi Police to his government for a year.

"PM Modi shud either himslf act or give control over Delhi police n public order to elected govt of delhi," Kejriwal tweeted.

The AAP supremo said: "PM sir, give control of delhi police to del govt for one year. If situation does not improve, take it back."

He also sought time from the PM and Delhi LG Najeeb Jung to discuss the issue of women safety.

"Seeking time to meet LG n PM to discuss women safety in Delhi," Kejriwal said.

Delhi has witnessed back to back incidents of rapes of minors.

In the first case, a two-and-a-half year old girl was raped allegedly by two men who abducted her from outside her house in west Delhi's Nangloi area.

In the second incident on the same day, a five-year-old was raped allegedly by three men in east Delhi's Anand Vihar area. The girl was reportedly alone at home when a neighbours of theirs  took her to his house and then allegedly raped her along with his friends.

Both of them sustained severe injuries.

The incidents took place a week after the rape and torture of a four-year-old girl in Delhi.
