A girl was injured during a fierce gunbattle between terrorists and Indian security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua region on Sunday.

The girl was taken to hospital for treatment.

Her condition is reportedly stable.

The terrorists managed to escape the spot after fierce gunbattle and a search operation is currently going on to nab them.

Earlier, an encounter erupted in Kathua's Hiranagar after three terrorists were spotted by the security forces near the India-Pakistan border, sources told India Today TV news channel.

According to reports, a search operation has been launched by teams from the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir police, the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the forest area close to the international border at Hiranagar.

Jammu and Kashmir has often witnessed tension along the border over terrorist infiltration issues.
