Gadkari says BJP will rise in Bengal, meets Mamata in Kolkata

| | Dec 24, 2014, at 03:21 am
Kolkata, Dec 23 (IBNS): Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said his party-the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s symbol 'lotus' will soon bloom in West Bengal.
“Ab Delhi dur nehi (Delhi is not too far now). I am sure lotus will definitely bloom in Bengal too,” he said while addressing a mammoth gathering at Esplanade in Kolkata.

Gadkari came to Kolkata on Tuesday morning. He also met state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat Nabanno in Howrah to discus expansion of various national highway projects across the state.

He took part in an anti-corruption march in the city that began from College Square and ended at Esplanade point.

Taking a dig at the Trinamool Congress government, he said no development take place in Bengal under the leadership of the incumbent government.

The two parties are already engaged in a political tussle.

However, Gadkari has reportedly assured Banerjee a central funding for the proposed deep sea port near Sagar island in the state.
