G20 needs action oriented agenda: PM Modi in Hangzhou

Hangzhou, Sept 4 (IBNS): Participating at the G20 Summit here on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said G20 needs action oriented agenda of collective, coordinated and targeted action.

Speaking at the G20 meeting, Modi said: "We meet at a time when the global situation faces complex political and economic challenges."

He said: "A frank,even a difficult conversation wont be enough. What G20 needs is an action oriented agenda of collective,coordinated and targeted action."

PM Modi also laid out an agenda for structural reforms to revive global growth.

He said, " We aim to improve fine system, boost domestic dependence,enhance infra investment and create pool of human capital."

"Our challenges are common,so are opportunities. Connected machines,digital revolution and new technology laying foundation for next generation global growth," PM Modi.

"To benefit all, G20 would need to act decisively. This will also require strong network of partnerships," he noted.

Modi also acknowledged President Barack Obama for his strong advocacy in building global partnerships and raising constant voice for collective action.

Ahead of the G20 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"First engagement in Hangzhou is a meeting with the host. PM @narendramodi meets President Xi Jinping," Swarup posted.

Modi visited China after completing his trip to Vietnam on Saturday.
