Four people injured in low intensity blast in Guwahati

Guwahati, Oct 13 (IBNS): With two days to go for the Durga Puja celebrations to begin in the state, an explosion rocked Guwahati city of Assam on Saturday. 

At least four people, including a woman, were injured in the low intensity blast in Assam’s capital city Guwahati.

The blast took place near Sukreswar Ghat, Pan Bazar area in the city at around 12-10 pm.

The injured persons have been rushed to nearest Mahendra Mohan Choudhury hospital.

Meanwhile, banned outfit group United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) took responsibility for the blast.

Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia, who visited the blast area said that, if anybody claims it we will look it.

“There is no target information about the particular incident in this area or Guwahati city. But we were taking all adequate measures, steps and vigilances that to ensure nothing should happen before Puja or after Puja. We already alerted all district police and other security agencies to take different steps,” the Assam DGP said.

The Assam DGP further said that, security has been tightened across the state.
