Four bridges to be built over Barak River: Assam CM

While participating as the chief guest in the Special Distribution Camp for Divyangjan held under the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase, Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) scheme at Town Club Ground, Silchar, the Assam CM said that four bridges over Barak River will be built and flyovers would be constructed for easing traffic congestions.
          
Stating that all government offices and institutions in the state would be made ‘barrier free’ for facilitating easy accessibility for the specially able persons, Sonowal said that ex gratia of 5000 rupees and monthly 1000 rupees would be provided by the state government for differently able persons for their treatment from the next year.
          
Saying that the state government along with Central government has initiated many welfare schemes for the differently able section of the society, Sonowal urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the schemes for their betterment.

Stating that differently able people have lots of potential to make meaningful contribution to the society Sonowal reiterated the government’s commitment to their welfare.  
          
Stating that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘sabka sath sabka vikash’ is the guiding mantra of the government to develop all sections of the society equally, the Assam CM urged the people to keep a strict watch over the government’s functioning for ensuring good governance at all levels.
          
The Assam CM distributed various equipments like wheel chair, tricycle to the beneficiaries in Monday’s camp.

He also handed a cheque of Rs 4 lakhs as ex gratia to a person named Shivcharan Das who lost his wife due to burn injuries.
          
Presiding over the meeting Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot said that the Central government is taking all steps to improve the social perceptions of specially able persons in the country and many schemes have been launched for the welfare of specially able persons like insurance of two lakh rupees, free treatment, free distribution of mobile and other digital equipments etc.
          
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar also spoke in the meeting.

State PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Dilip Paul, MP Sushmita Deb were also present in the meeting.

Former Central Minister Kabindra Purkayastha along with several MLAs were present in the meeting.
