Former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav says SP will support Congress in Gujarat Assembly polls

Lucknow, Oct 23 (IBNS): The Samajwadi Party (SP) will support the Congress in the upcoming Gujarat State Assembly election except for five seats, where it will contest directly, according to media reports on Monday.

The announcement was made by the SP's national president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, media reported.

The two parties had formed an alliance for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections too earlier this year.

The Election Commission is yet to declare the poll dates for the 182 seat Gujarat Assembly but said that the state will go to the polls before Dec 18, media reports said.
