Former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav congratulates MK Stalin for becoming DMK president
New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday wished MK Stalin for becoming the new President of the southern party Dravida Munnetra Kazghagam (DMK).
Yadav wished Stalin fulfilled the dreams of thousands of people.
"Our heartiest congratulations to @mkstalin on being elected President of the DMK. Wish you great strength to shoulder this huge responsibility of making thousands of dreams come true," Yadav tweeted.
Thanking the Samajwadi Party leader, Stalin tweeted: "Thank you Thiru @yadavakhilesh for your kind message and wishes."
Stalin (65), the son of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister late Muthuvel Karunanidhi, succeeded his father.
The DMK president's post had fallen vacant after party patriarch Karunanidhi's demise on Aug 7, 2018.
Stalin became the working president of the party in 2017.
Following Karunanidhi's death, a succession war within the party took place with Alagiri, the other son of the late DMK president, claiming several party loyalists are with him.
Alagiri was expelled from the DMK in 2014 for "anti-party activities".
