Former Indian captain Azharuddin, two others booked in cheating case in Maharashtra

Aurangabad/UNI: Former Indian captain and cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin and two others were booked for allegedly cheating the city based Danish Tours and Travels Agency for Rs 20.96 lakh, police said.

The complaint was lodged by owner of the agency Mohammad Shahab Mohammad Yakub (49) a resident of Labor Colony, Aurangabad on Wednesday night.

According to the police, Mujib Khan, personal secretary of Mohammed Azharuddin of Aurangabad had approached Danish Tours and Travels Agency and booked airlines tickets for destination of Mumbai-Dubai-Paris and Mumbai-Paris-Dubai for Sudesh Awvekal (Kerala) and Mohammed Azharuddin (Andhra Pradesh) in November,2019.

The complaint states that the cheque issued against the fare by Mujeeb Khan was dishonoured in bank.

When Mr Shahab was asked for payments he avoided repeatedly, police said.

On the basis of the complaint police have registered an FIR against all three persons.

Further investigation was underway, police added.
