Panaji/UNI: Former Goa Minister Rohan Khaunte on Thursday said that he would join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Dec 17.

In a message to the residents of Pororim constituency, which he represented in the state assembly for two consecutive terms as an independent MLA, Khaunte said he had taken the decision in consultation with his supporters and well wishers.

"I have decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party to ensure continuity of Porvorim's development as well as to imbibe a culture of inclusiveness and togetherness," he said.

Khaunte was a minister in the cabinet of Late Manohar Parrikar.

However, he was sacked from the cabinet post Parrikar's demise.
