'For me, Mann Ki Baat has been about worshipping qualities in others:' PM Modi addresses 100th episode

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday addressed the 100th episode of his monthly radio talk "Mann Ki Baat", which was aired globally.

The programme featured guests who had appeared in earlier episodes of the talk, with the PM interacting with them about the progress they have made.

In his opening remarks, PM Modi said: "Mann Ki Baat is a reflection of 'Mann Ki Baat' of crores of Indians, it is an expression of their feelings."

He thanked the people of the country for making it a huge success.

"Mann Ki Baat has been a catalyst in igniting numerous mass movements, be it 'Har Ghar Tiranga' or 'Catch the Rain', Mann Ki Baat has enabled mass movements to gain momentum," he said.

"Every episode of 'Mann Ki Baat' has been special. It has celebrated positivity, people's participation," he said.

"Mann Ki Baat has showcased stories of talented individuals across diverse fields, from promoting Aatmanirbhar Bharat to Make in India and space startups," the PM said.

The address was broadcast live at the UN headquarters in New York, India's mission there said.

"A special message has been received from UNESCO Director-General AAzoulay regarding #MannKiBaat100. She inquired about India's efforts regarding education and cultural preservation," the PM said in his address.

"For me, 'Mann Ki Baat' has been about worshipping the qualities in others. Mann Ki Baat' gave me the platform to connect with the people of India," PM Modi said.

Mann Ki Baat was first aired on Oct 3, 2014, the year PM Modi's government came to power after the United Progressive Alliance's 10-year rule. The radio talk is broadcast every month.

The Tourism Ministry had earlier announced "100 days of action" to mark the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat.

During the address, PM Modi said: "Tourism sector is growing rapidly in the country. Be it our natural resources, rivers, mountains, ponds or our pilgrimage sites, it is important to keep them clean. This will help the tourism industry a lot."

The activities include a design challenge for entrepreneurs to develop substitutes for single-use plastic items.

PM Modi expressed his gratitude to the entire AIR team, MyGov, media, and especially the people of India for making 'Mann Ki Baat' a resounding success.
