Fodder scam: Lalu Prasad appears in CBI court

Ranchi, June 13 (IBNS) Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav appeared in a special CBI court in Ranchi on Monday in connection with a multi-crore fodder scam, reports said.

The case involves a total of 48 accused in a scam of fraudulent withdrawal of around Rs.1,000 crore by the Animal Husbandry department from various districts during Lalu Prasad's tenure as Bihar Chief Minister  from 1990 to 1997.  

On October 3, 2013, Lalu was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in another case of fodder scam by a special CBI court.  He is currently out on bail.
