Pratapgarh/UNI: An FIR has been lodged against Uttar Pradesh MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya, two of his supporters and 15 others under SC/ST Act on charges of assault of a polling agent of the Samajwadi Party.

Circle Officer Ajeet Kumar Singh on Saturday said the FIR followed a complaint from Rakesh Paasi, who alleged that during the elections on Sunday he was forcibly taken from the polling booth and assaulted in which he sustained injuries on his head.

The cavalcade of Samajwadi Party candidate from Kunda, Gulshan Yadav, was attacked near Paharpur village yesterday.

Gulshan Yadav is up against local heavyweight Raja Bhaiyya, who is contesting on a Jansatta Party ticket.

Yadav was once his close confidant to Raja Bhaiyya, a six-time independent MLA from Kunda since 1993.
