New Delhi, Aug 29 (IBNS): An FIR has been filed against musician Vishal Dadlani in Ambala for his alleged disrespect to religious sentiments following his tweet on a Jain monk addressing the Haryana Assembly over the weekend, the media reported on Monday.

The Haryana Assembly had invited Jain monk Tarun Sagar to address the lawmakers on Friday

It has been alleged that Dadlani said that the Jain monk addressing the lawmakers was indicative of an unhealthy trend of religion colouring politics, media reported.

Dadlani, 43, referred to the speech as "monkery" on Twitter but later deleted his comment and issued a public apology to Jains and others who may have been offended, reported NDTV.

In one of his tweets on Sunday, he said, "I apologise again, to the Jain Community, & all others offended. But I beg you all not to support religion in governance, for India's sake."

Delhi's Minister of Health, Satyendar Jain tweeted, "Met Muni Shri Tarun Sagar Ji. He has already forgiven ¬hing in his heart against anyone."

The monk on the other hand said that there is nothing to forgive and he was not offended, media reported.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has said that the monk is a revered saint, " not just for Jains but everyone. Those showing disrespect is unfortunate and should stop."

Vishal Dadlani, a staunch supporter of AAP also quit the party on Sunday, which has led to a lot of speculation.

Dadlani, on the other hand, repeatedly tweeted, "Neither Arvind, nor anyone else, asked me to quit."

He also said, "Nobody has thrown me out. I've chosen to renounce politics to apologise to the Jains I've hurt."
