FICCI Ladies Organization launches Flo Advocacy and Legal Cell – Women for Women

Kolkata, Mar 18 (IBNS) : FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) introduced the Kolkata Chapter of their pan-India initiative 'FLO Advocacy and Legal Cell - ‘Women for Women’ at a recent meeting in the city.

Governor of West Bengal, Keshari Nath Tripathi, was the chief guest.

Retired Justice of Supreme Court Ruma Pal, National FLO President Vinita Bhimbhet, Human Rights lawyer Vrinda Grover, lawyer Asha Nayar Basu, and Anupama Surekha, Chairperson Flo Kolkata were also present.

Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi said, “Today we find women activity in numerous field like industry, business administration, medical and legal profession, education, science, telly communication, information technology, space science etc. In social services, women are showing exemplary performance.This is proof of the fact that fully empowered women cannot only made their home and family but also their nation.All women and made them more useful to nation what is needed is to equip them with more and adequate right, eliminate gender discrimination, create dignified atmosphere and made them aware of their right and implication.”

“The launch of Advocacy and Legal Cell by the organization chairperson Anupama Surekha in Kolkata is indeed a great initiative to empower and give freedom and equal right to women at large,” said Tripathi.

Anupama Surekha said, “We must focus on women’s legal problems and concerns and it requires more than just our knowledge of the law or our experience in the courtroom. They need honest answers, thoughtful guidance and knowledge about their rights to stand independent in life. My objective as a woman will always be to stand beside a woman. That is why we have named it ‘Women for Women’. Knowledge of legal and political processes is very important to bring about an effective change.”

National FLO President Vinita Bhimbhet said, “We hope to have the units in every city,  a platform for progressive thoughts and knowledge sharing. It’s our duty to change the atmosphere and establish the rightful place for women in our society.”
