Feminism, homosexuality, atheism declared 'extremist ideas' in Saudi

Riyadh/UNI: The State Security Presidency of Saudi Arabia has pronounced feminism, homosexuality and atheism as extremist ideas and said "all forms of extremism and perversion are unacceptable."

In a promotional video clip, the Saudi government listed the above-mentioned concepts alongside 'takfir'--the action or practice of declaring that a fellow Muslim is guilty of apostasy (not believing in the essential tenets of Islam) and therefore, no longer a Muslim.

"Don't forget that excess of anything at the expense of the homeland is considered extremism," said the promo's voice-over, posted on Twitter.

The announcement comes in the background of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's efforts to present a moderate form of Islam, in a bid to attract foreign investment, to transform the country's oil-dependent economy.
