Extravagant promises made by Modi remained unfulfilled: Chidambaram

New Delhi, Nov 19 (IBNS): Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not full fill the promises he had made before coming to power.

He said there is all-round sense of disappointment after 42 months of BJP rule.

"Mr Narendra Modi, the candidate, claimed to bring development to the centre of the political debate in 2014 with his brilliant slogan 'achhe din aane wale hain'," Chidambaram tweeted.

"He also took to grandstanding with his extravagant promises: 'I will create 2 crore jobs every year', 'I will bring back black money stashed abroad and put Rs 15 lakh in the bank account of every Indian' and so on," he said.

"Obviously, none of the extravagant promises could be fulfilled. Hence, the all-round sense of disappointment after 42 months," the ex-Finance Minister said.

Modi and his BJP came to power in 2014 by scripting a major victory in the Lok Sabha polls.
