Even Holi is coming during election campaign programme period: Prasad

| @indiablooms | Mar 11, 2019, at 06:16 pm

New Delhi, Mar 11 (IBNS): Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday criticised the opposition leaders as they stirred a controversy by questioning the timing of hosting the Lok Sabha polls during the month of Ramzan.

Prasad said polling for the Kairana parliamentary seat was also held during Ramzan last year, on May 28.

"See a lot of sponsored comments today," Prasad while addressing a press conference.

"Even Holi is coming during election campaign programme period," he said.

Reacting to the matter,  All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted: "Fasting is obligatory on Muslims. We cook, work, clean & take care of our families while fasting. It’s an insult to Muslims to say that Ramzan will affect our voting. In Ramzan, Shaitan is enchained - inshallah one will use their vote to defeat his agents."

The dates of the Lok Sabha polls was announced on Sunday.

The seventh phase of polling will be held on May 19.

Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
