Kolkata, Feb 10 (IBNS): A first-year student of Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology's Electronics and Communications Engineering department was found hanging in a flat at Kestopur 3 No. Camp area under Baguiati Police Station in Kolkata on Friday morning, reports said.

According to reports, Iman Dutta, who was a resident of West Bengal's Purulia district and was staying at a mess with few other friends at Kestopur area since last year, was recovered dead from his friend's place

Meanwhile, Iman Dutta's friend, from whose flat his body was found, has claimed that he was not present in his flat last night and has no idea about the death.

After sending the youth's body for post-mortem, police have started investigation into the matter and are quizzing his friends.

"As the door was locked from inside, it seems like the student committed suicide," an official of Bidhannagar City Police told IBNS.

"We have just begun investigation and it's too early to confirm whether the student committed suicide or the incident is something else," the official added.
