Encounter underway in North Kashmir's Palhalan village

Srinagar, Feb 16 (IBNS): Fierce gunfight is currently underway between security forces and a militant in Palhalan village of North Kashmir Baramulla District on Friday.

According to sources on specific inputs about the presence of some militants hiding in the village, heavy contingent of army's 29 RR, Special Operation  Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 53 bn CRPF  laid siege in the area during night .

"When counter insurgency party approached the suspected house, the hiding militant opened fire on party which lead to fierece encounter," police official said.

Only one militant is inside the house who is believed to be local and affiliated with Hizb outfit since many years.

When reports last came in the gunfight was going on.

Authorites have suspended mobile internet services in the area to stop rumours spread in the area.

Meanwhile rail authorities have also suspended rail services from Srinagar to Baramulla as a precautionary measure.
