Eminent Assamese singer Vitali Das succumbs to Covid-19

Guwahati/IBNS: Eminent Assamese singer Vitali Das passed away on Wednesday evening.

She succumbed to Covid-19 at the Kalapahar Covid-19 hospital in Guwahati.

The popular singer was admitted at the government-run hospital on Apr 15 after she tested Covid-19 positive.

Vitali Das is survived by her husband and a daughter.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state’s health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma have expressed grief over demise of the renowned Assamese singer.

Assam on Wednesday had reported 1,665 Covid-19 positive cases with the positivity rate of 2.68 percent.

On the other hand, Assam government has made seven days mandatory home quarantine for all persons arriving by flight and train in Assam from outside of the state.

In an order issued by the state Health department on Wednesday stated that, all passengers arriving by flights and trains from outside of the state will have to undergo compulsorily home quarantine for seven days, even if the result of the Covid test undergone on arrival, is negative.

National Health Mission, Assam tweeted, "All passengers arriving by flight and train from outside the State have to compulsorily undergo 7 days #HomeQuarantine.”
