Eight assistant police constables suspended in Chhattisgarh

| | Oct 27, 2016, at 07:29 pm
Raipur, Oct 27 (IBNS): Chhattisgarh government has suspended eight assistant police constables for setting houses ablaze in south Bastar during an anti-Naxal operation in 2011, the media reported on Thursday.

The CBI had filed charge-sheets against these policemen in court.

The action comes few days after the CBI indicted Bastar policemen holding them responsible for burning nearly 200 houses of tribal villagers during an anti-Naxalite operation in 2011 and also submitted a status report to the Supreme Court, which was hearing a petition filed by social activists, reported the Times of India.

The opposition has said that the government should have fixed the responsibility on senior police officers who gave the orders, media reported.
