Drugs worth of Rs 11.96 crore seized in Manipur, one held

Imphal, Mar 14 (IBNS): Troops of Assam Rifles on Wednesday seized huge quantity of drugs worth Rs 12 crore from Manipur.

According to the reports, the Assam Rifles troops on Wednesday recovered huge quantity of WY tablets and brown sugar from a drug peddler in Tengnoupal district in the state along with Myanmar border.

A top official of Assam Rifles said that, the troops have apprehended the drug peddler with huge quantity of brown sugar and WY tablets worth of Rs 11.96 crore.

During the preliminary interrogation, the drug peddler revealed that, it was carried from Myanmar and being transported to Shillong.

Later, the drug peddler and recovered drugs were handed over to Imphal based Narcotic Control Bureau.

In past three years, security forces have recovered huge quantity of drugs worth over Rs 100 crore from different parts of the state.

On Jan 6 last, Manipur police seized WY drugs, worth of Rs 3 crore from the international market area in Imphal West district.
