Drought: Inter Ministerial Team Leaves for U P

New York, Sept 24 (IBNS) The Union Agriculture Ministry is sending an Inter-Ministerial team to Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday to make an assessment of drought situation in the state, officials said.

"The team over the next three days will visit various villages of drought affected districts of the State to examine ground realities of crop and plantation conditions, availability of drinking water and feed stock for animals," read a government statement.

"During the visit the team besides holding meetings with the State administration will also collect details on the drought situation from the district and block level officials. The central team will also try to take feedback on the ground situation from local representatives and farmers," it said.

The team will comprise of specialists from the fields of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation, Rural Development, Drinking Water and Power.

It will also have representative from the Food Corporation of India, Finance Ministry and the Planning Commission.
