Washington, Dec 16 (IBNS): US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed David Friedman as the new US ambassador to Israel, media reports said.

Friedman acted as Trump's adviser on US-Israel issues during his Presidential campaign, which he won by defeating former First lady of State Hillary Clinton.

A statement by Trump's team read that Friedman's 'strong relationships in Israel will form the foundation of his diplomatic mission'.

Friedman was quoted as saying that he looks forward to working from the 'US Embassy in Israel's eternal capital, Jerusalem'.
