Kolkata, July 27 (IBNS):  DMK Working President MK Stalin on Friday thanked senior politicians, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, for wishing his father and ex-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi a speedy recovery.

"On behalf of the DMK, I thank @rashtrapatibhvn & @PMOIndia for their enquiries about @kalaignar89's health. I am extremely grateful for their offers of help. Thalaivar is getting the best medical care and treatment. We hope he will recover soon and thank everyone in his own words," Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin tweeted as he tweeted the leaders.

"I am thankful to @RahulGandhi, @SitaramYechury & D Raja for calling to enquire about Thalaivar Kalaignar's health. The concern and wishes from everyone will surely aid @kalaignar89's recovery and we hope he will be able to meet everyone soon," he said.

Karunanidhi,94, is being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection with intravenous antibiotics and fluids.

On Friday, Tamil Nadu ministers and actor-turned-politician Kamal Hassan visited Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence.

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam was among the ministers who visited the DMK chief's house.

Karunanidhi is being treated by a team of doctors as his family has decided against admitting him in a hospital.
