DMK ahead in TN, LDF in Kerala, NDA in Assam, TMC & BJP neck-to-neck in Bengal

New Delhi/IBNS/UNI: As per early trends of counting of votes for Assembly elections, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Congress alliance is leading in Tamil Nadu, while the All India Trinamool Congress is ahead in West Bengal, BJP-led NDA in Assam, Left Democratic Front in Kerala and All India N R Congress-led BJP alliance gaining in Puducherry.

In the initial hour of counting of votes reserved for postal ballots, in Tamil Nadu, the DMK+ was leading in 40 while the AIADMK in 32 while in Bengal, the TMC+ has maintained a lead in 74 seats while the BJP+ in 72.

In Kerala, the LDF was leading in 61 while the UDF in 47 while in Puducherry, the NRC+ was ahead in four constituencies while Congress in one.

In Assam, the NDA was ahead in 29 seats while the Congress in lead in 18.After postal, the EVM ballots will be counted.

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal is leading in Majuli constituency. Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is leading in Jalukbari constituency. AGP president Atul Bora is leading in Bokakhat constituency.

Jailed peasant leader and Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi is leading in Sivasagar constituency. Assam Jatiya Parishad president Lurinjyoti Gogoi is leading in Duliajan constituency.

In Bengal, BJP's Nandigram candidate Suvendu Adhikari is leading by 8206 votes over TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee after the completion of third round counting, reports said.

According to reports, 15 more rounds of counting are left in Nandigram.

The elections were held between March 27 and April 29. West Bengal (294 seats) went for polls in eight phases. However, polling on two seats was postponed due to the death of candidates. Voting for Assam (126) was held in three phases while in Tamil Nadu (234), Kerala (140) and Puducherry (30), the polling was conducted in a single phase.
