Did Sasikala move out of jail? CCTV footage raises question

Bengaluru, Aug 21 (IBNS): A recent CCTV footage of the Bengaluru jail has once again raised a question whether AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala moved out of prison, media reports said.

According to the CCTV footage shown on various news channels, Sasikala, who was convicted in disproportionate assets case, seen to enter the jail in civilian clothes.

Earlier, questions were raised against Sasikala for getting a VVIP treatment inside the jail.

The allegations of providing special treatment to Sasikala came into light in mid-July after former DIG Prisons D Roopa alleged that the former has bribed the jail officials a sum of two crores for the benefits.

Roopa even said Sasikala had an access to a separate kitchen for her meals.

Though the DG lost her job immediately, some local channels aired the footage which shows Sasikala was staying in a room inside the prison where a LED TV had been installed.

She was also seen not wearing any prisoner's cloth rather was visible in a silk attire.

Sasikala was convicted in a money laundering case in February 2017 which led to an imprisonment of four years.

She was close to the former CM of Tamil Nadu late J Jayalalitha. After Jayalalitha's death, Sasikala was appointed as the interim General Secretary of the party.

Prior to her conviction, Sasikala had an ambition to become the chief minister that led to the disintegration of the AIADMK.
