New Delhi, Dec 14 (IBNS): Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday sought an appointment with Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu over the demolition of shanties in west Delhi.

"Sought an appointment with Railway Minister, Sh Suresh Prabhu ji," Kejriwal tweeted.

A child has allegedly died in Shakur Basti of west Delhi as 1200 shanties were being demolished during an anti-encroachment drive by the Railway police, media reports said.

The residents alleged that their homes were demolished without being given any warning or notice.

The Ministry of Railways, however, said the death of the child was not related to removal of encroachments.

"Death of the child occurred in one of the slums10 am & had nothing to do with the removal of encroachments ," the Ministry tweeted.
