New Delhi, Sept 4 (IBNS): The Delhi Police on Sunday arrested suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member and ex-minister Sandeep Kumar in connection with the controversy over a 'sex tape' which showed him in a compromising position with a woman, reports said.

Sandeep Kumar was suspended by the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday following the controversy.

The woman was approached by an NGO to lodge a rape complaint with the police after the video was revealed in public.

The woman has told the Delhi Police that the nine-minute video was filmed without her knowledge.

The act was done after Kumar allegedly spiked her drink and forced himself on her.

Earlier this week, Kumar  was sacked from the cabinet.

He was Minister for women and child welfare.

A high-level party meeting also decided to suspend him from AAP.

The 36-year-old MLA from Sultanpur Majra, who pleaded innocence, said he was targeted for being a Dalit.

Party chief and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asserted that the party has no place for offenders.

Following the registration of the case, Kejriwal twweted, "If the woman's allegations are correct, this is very serious. Strongest exemplary punishment should be given to Sandeep."

In a video message to workers earlier, Kejriwal accused Kumar of "betraying the Aam Aadmi Party and our movement."
