Delhi on high alert: Bomb threat to High Court, airport and multiple locations ahead of I-Day
New Delhi/IBNS: The Delhi High Court, Indira Gandhi International Airport and several other locations in the national capital received bomb threats on Friday, a day ahead of India's 80th Independence Day.
The threats were issued through an email received at around 2:11 am.
Email threatens explosions across Delhi
The email threatened to carry out a bomb blast at the Delhi High Court on Saturday afternoon, followed by explosions at district courts an hour later.
It also contained threats to turn Delhi into Khalistan and claimed that members of the separatist movement had reached the national capital.
The email alleged that Delhi's courts only hear cases against Sikhs.
Several locations, transport services threatened
According to NDTV, six other locations named in the threat email were Jamnagar House, the Jhandewalan building, the Saket office, the District Magistrate's Office and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate's (SDM) Office in Delhi Cantt.
Threats were also issued against the Delhi Metro and trains bound for Ambala.
No suspicious object found so far
Authorities are investigating the threat email, but no suspicious object has been found so far, according to reports.
Security has already been stepped up across the national capital ahead of Independence Day celebrations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to address the nation from the Red Fort.
