Delhi man arrested for sexually assaulting, killing 15 children

New Delhi, July 19 (IBNS): The police have arrested a person who has confessed of sexually assaulting and killing 15 children since 2009 in Delhi, NCR and western UP.

The arrested person has been identified as Ravinder Kumar, 24, and a resident of Ustav Vihar in Delhi.

"With the arrest of accused Ravinder Kumar ......Delhi Police has solved several cases of sexual assault and murder," the Delhi Police said in a statement.

He had last raped and killed a girl in Begumpur area in Delhi recently.

Police said on July 14 last they got an information regarding missing of a girl child aged about 6 years. It was received at Police Station Begumpur, Delhi and the same was entrusted to HC Shamsher Singh for necessary action. Immediately an FIR was registered u/s 363 IPC and search for the missing girl was started," read the government statement.

During the course of search, the  body of the kidnapped girl was found in a semi constructed three-story house, hardly 50 m from the house of the girl, the police said.

Speaking further on the arrest of the culprit, the police said: thereafter,10 teams were constituted and a manhunt was launched to nab the accused. After a pain-staking non-stop search operation which lasted for over 24 hours, accused Ravinder was apprehended and arrested. 

The police said during sustained interrogation he has disclosed his involvement in about 15 similar cases since 2009 in Delhi, NCR and Western UP. 

Investigation into the matter is currently going on.
