New Delhi, Oct 3 (IBNS) : The Supreme Court on Monday fined Delhi's Health Minister Satyendra Jain Rs. 25,000 for failing to name the Government officials who he alleged were not cooperating with him on controlling chikungunya and dengue in the capital, reports said.

"People are dying. You don't need 24 hours," the top court said, when  told by the Delhi government that it had not been able to file an affidavit as ordered by the court, and it would be done on Monday.

In response to the court's query on what actions the Government has taken to curb the mosquito-borne dengue and chikungunya diseases which have affected more than 8,000 people in the national capital, the Health Minister alleged that  officials were hindering his attempts fight the disease, and were instead sending files to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

On Friday the Supreme Court had asked the minister to list the names of the officers allegedly not cooperating with him, saying the names need not be given in sealed cover.

The ruling Aam Aadmi Party, headed by Arvind Kejriwal,  has been engaged in a bitter power tussle with the Centre and its representative in the capital Lieutenant General Najeeb Jung.
